The 'Secret' To Writing and Earning More Every Day

I love to read about how other writers work, but only those who are good at what they do and have earned millions.

One of these is the late, great copywriter, Eugene Schwartz.

He is the author of the well-known, yet hard to get hold of, copywriting classic called Breakthrough Advertising. I'm one of the fortunate people who have a copy of this amazing book. It's currently selling on Amazon for $400 and up to $2,000.

https://www.amazon.com/Breakthrough-Advertising-Eugene-M-Schwartz/dp/0887232981

Eugene Schwartz is famous not for just doing great work and earning millions of dollars, but also for teaching others how he did it.

One of the 'secrets' he taught was using a timer whenever he was working.

He always set it to 33.33 minutes.

Why he used this exact amount of time of 33 minutes and 33 seconds, he never said, but he does attribute it to making him a millionaire several times over.

The way he did it was that he would start his timer and then start working.

When the timer sounded, he would stop work for exactly 5 mintues. It didn't matter what he was working on, even if he was halfway through writing a sentence, when the timer sounded, he would stop.

Not only that, but the 5 minutes had to be spent away from his desk. He would make a cup of tea, or pat his dog or walk around. But he would be physical for 5 minutes.

He would then return to his desk, set his timer for another 33.33 minutes and get straight to work.

He would do this 6 or sometimes 7 times and then stop working for the day.

So he was, in fact, only working 3 to 4 hours a day.

But he did say it was intensely focused work and he already knew what he'd be working on before he sat down. He also worked 7 days a week.

And this is what he said helped to keep him at his desk working and earning him millions of dollars.

It's also helped his followers, many of whom work the same way.

And on days when I use it, it works for me too.

It's amazing how well it helps with focus and gives you no time for writer's block or other time-wasting activities.

My aim is to get into a habit of working this way every day.

How I'm Earning Extra Income From My Blog

A few weeks ago I talked about a new affiliate program I'd started using called Viglink.

It's an affiliate network and is affiliated with thousands of different companies all over the world, so from just one account, I can have access to these companies, some of which I cannot affiliate to myself because they are only interested in working with big online sites that can earn thousands of dollars in affiliate commissions every month. But now I have access to them through Viglink.

And it's turning out to be quite a profitable way to make more money.

It's really easy to use and works in several different ways.

For instance, all I had to do was place a small snippet of code on my sites and if on any page, I have a URL to a website that uses affiliates but it isn't linked, Viglink will replace it with an affiliate link automatically.

And it doesn't just do this on new web pages, but on all pages on all my sites. Some of these pages have been online for years without any affiliate links on them, but now I'm getting clicks and commissions from URLs that I had no idea used affiliates.

Also there is an option called Viglink Shopping, and what this does is, if I've mentioned a product, Vignlink will not only turn it into an affiliate link if there's one available, but if the merchant runs out of stock of the item, or stops selling it, Viglink will automatically link it to a different merchant. And all without me doing a thing.

There is also a handy app called Viglink Anywhere that I've installed on my browser's toolbar. And anytime I visit a site that is selling a product, I can click on "Anywhere" and it will not only tell me if there is an affiliate link for the product but will also provide a link as well as a shortened version so that I can use it anywhere (as the name suggests), even on social media.

It's so handy to be able to see in an instant whether or not a product has an affiliate program and get a link immediately.

It really doesn't get much easier than that.

If you're interested in using Viglink on your own website or blog, you can click on the link on the affiliate page of my Cheriton House Publishing website where you'll also a list of nine other affiliate programs you can join for free.

Earning extra money without doing any extra work is always a good thing 😀

What Many Are Doing to Earn More Money From Their Writing - And It's Easy

Recently I've been using social media, blog posts and articles to help people earn more money from their writing.

But, it only works for those who are serious about wanting to write more and earn more and not for those who like to read about increasing their writing income but never do anything about it.

And it's so simple that even I didn't realise it would work to the extent that it has or the number of people would help.

You see, when I first started writing, I studied lots of different courses about creating websites and freelance writing, book writing, copywriting and much more.

In fact, I still haven't finished learning because it's an ongoing process because the writing and publishing industry changes all the time.

But I've always considered it really, extremely important to know as much as I can about writing and earning money so that I can work and earn to my full potential.

So I've been promoting video courses on Udemy (which weren't around when I was learning the basics) because so many people, like me, prefer to learn in a structured way instead of reading a lot of stuff and then trying to make it work.

I much prefer to be actually taught step-by-step how to do something.

And I think this is why Udemy courses are so popular.

Not only do they teach in a structured, easy way, but there are so many to choose from that whatever you need to learn, there's a course just for you.

And many of them are free.

Just a quick search of the site turned up:

  • Make Money from Home: How to Build an Online Business
  • How To Make a Beautiful WordPress Website Without Coding!
  • Copywriting that sells for ambitious people
  • Write, Publish, Market, and Make Money with Your Own Book
  • My Favorite Things- Fun and Easy Writing Course for kids

And one of their most popular courses:

The Complete Freelance Writing Online Course: Beginner to Pro
Learn How to Get Paid to Write Online, Make Good Money, and Work From Anywhere.

So if you want to know more about writing, book writing, copywriting, blogging, freelance writing, affiliate marketing, creating websites/blogs, or anything else, I can almost guarantee that there is a course to cover it.

Take a look at some of their free courses and see what you think.

The Real Reason People Aren't Buying What You're Selling

There are so many ways to earn money from writing that I talk about often like writing ebooks, print books, affiliate marketing, blogging and more.

The question though is are you making enough money from it all?

If not, it's because people aren't interested in what you're selling.

And it all comes down to good marketing.

If you want to make more sales, then you need to elicit emotion from your readers.

We are all emotionally driven and we buy things because they appeal to our emotions, like the thing you read about and you "just have to have it!"

But what brings on this sudden impulse to click the 'buy now' button?

It's emotion. You feel excited or elated and you just want to have the product or book being offered.

And that's what you want to do if you want to sell more.

Get people excited to buy.

Use words that will illicit emotion.

One way to do this (and there are many ways) is to look at reviews for what you're selling and see what people liked about the product or book and use that to help sell it. Find out what it was about it that got people excited and use that to make more sales.

Alternatively look at questions that people are asking before they buy the product. What are the main features/benefits they're looking for?

Once you have all this information, use it to really sell the product by appealling to their emotions.

As an example, I recenty bought the DVD and CD set of Titans of Direct Response copywriting seminar. And their sales page begins with:

"Two days' worth of the most powerful, profitable direct marketing principles, strategies, and immediately useful tactics — this will change your business and your life..."

See how they appealed to their readers' emotions by using words like, powerful, profitable, stragegies, immediatley useful tactics, will change your business and your life."

They do this because without emotions there is no sale.

If something doesn't appeal to us (ie, we don't feel emotional about it) we won't feel compelled to buy it.

No emotion means no action.

So give them emotional reasons to buy what you're selling.
