How to Sell More Books Than Ever Before

E-Publish and be Damned!
A question was asked a few days ago about the best price to sell a Kindle book.

The person had written a book and was selling it as a Kindle eBook for $2.99. The sales weren't great so after a few months they reduce the price to 99 cents and then sold even less.

They were questioning which is the best price to sell an ebook for in the Kindle store?

But the answer has nothing to do with price.

The real 'secret' to selling more books is to write more books.

It really doesn't matter if you sell your Kindle books for 99 cents or $2.99.

What matters is that you have lots of books to sell.

If you only have one book and you're an unknown author, unless the book has epic content that everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) is talking about, then you can't expect to make many sales.

What you need, and that means really, really need, is to write more.

You don't even have to be a fantastic writer. You just need to be able to write well enough to get your point across or to tell a great story.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that the only way to sell more books is to reduce the price and sell them as low as possible just because you're an unknown writer. EVERY writer was unknown at some point.

When publishing companies publish a book written by an unknown author, they don't sell it cheaper than all their other books just because the author is new. On the contrary. They spend even more time than usual trying to promote the author to get them better known.

Electronic publishing (especially Kindle publishing) has turned publishing around by more than 360 degrees. You can now write as many books as you want and publish them all yourself. And it only takes a few seconds to publish a book electronically.

So if you want to make more money from writing books, forget about prices or discounts or tracking sales and get on with writing more books.

If someone reads one of your books and enjoys it, they'll want to read more. But if you only have 2 or 3 books published, they’ll turn away once they've read them all and start reading someone else's books.

But if you have a whole library of books for them to choose from, they'll come back again and again - possibly for years.

You see, what matters most, isn't the price of your books or how many sales you’re making (or not making) right now.

What matters the most is how many hours a day you apply your backside to your chair and write. And the more you sit and write, the better and faster you'll get.

A writer who writes more makes more money. Even if you only sit and write for an hour a day you can write between 1,000 and 1,500 words which means you can write a book a month.

So if you're not making the money you want from your books, write more books, price them realistically (not bargain basement price) and keep on writing.

And writing and writing…
